Budget Committee Meeting

January 25th, 2016

6:45pm – meeting followed the regularly scheduled Selectmen’s meeting

 

In attendance: Jennifer Richardson, Chris Mock, Beth Downs, Kathy Rodgers, John Pfeifle, Dick Keller and Don Jackson

 

Minutes of January 11th and 18th were accepted.

 

Fire department budget with motion to accept $55,950.00 unanimously approved.

 

Camila Devlin attended the meeting at the request of the Budget Committee. Discussion followed on salary issues.  John Pfeifle confirmed the status of the position of Town Clerk/Tax Collector as an elected position.  John Pfeifle made a motion to accept the budget at $102,000.  The budget was seconded and voted unanimously.

 

Police Cruiser warrant for $8,770.00 was unanimously approved.

 

Highway road work warrant increased from $80,000 to $120,000. Pfeifle motion, Jackson second, vote 6 yes, one no (Chris Mock).

 

The Highway operating account was reduced to $505,000. Motion Pfeifle, second Jackson, and passed unanimously.

 

Warrant for $30,000 from Town Facilities Capital Reserve to move the offices back to the Town Hall. This warrant will be withdrawn if the Town Hall bond passes.  The motion was moved by Jennifer Richardson, seconded by John Pfeifle and voted unanimously.

 

The warrant for a contingency fund of $20,000 was motioned by Dick Keller, seconded by Jennifer Richardson and voted 6 yes and one no (Chris Mock)

 

The Town Hall numbers were not available at this time.

 

The first Budget hearing will be held on February 4th at 7:00 pm.  The Committee will meet at 6:00pm to review and vote on the remaining warrants and changes.  The Town Hall Restoration Committee will have figures available by then.

 

Jennifer Richardson and Don Jackson will not be available that night. A second public hearing date is reserved and posted for February 11th if needed, but will be cancelled if all items are resolved on February 4th.
