Recording Secretary Position

The Selectmen are accepting applications for a Recording Secretary. This position currently serves the Planning Board, Zoning Board, Select Board and Budget Committee; however, the position could be shared by two people. Responsibilities include minute taking and transcription in accordance with the Rules of Procedure and applicable state laws, posting notices and agendas, written and verbal correspondence, keeping financial records, purchasing supplies, filing, tape recording and assisting Town officials and the public with access to the Boards’ files.

The skills necessary to be successful in this position include attention to detail and deadlines; effective customer services skills; ability to juggle several projects at the same time; strong written and verbal communication skills; desire to become familiar with Town Ordinances and related RSAs. The successful candidate will also demonstrate computer capability with Word and Excel.

Position averages between 2 and 7 hours per week, though there will be weeks where as many as 15 hours are worked. Availability in the evening is required.
