Board of Selectmen Meeting Minutes

June 15, 2015

Pledge of Allegiance

Meeting called to order at 5:30pm

Roll Call- John Pfeifle, Chairman; Sonny Harris, Selectman; Harry Wright, Selectman

Appearances

  1. Kearsarge Area Preschool (KAP) representative present to discuss 2015-2016 lease agreement. Selectmen agreed to keep the KAP rent at $300 through the summer at which time it will increase to $450/month. KAP thanked BACC for supplying the paint and NFI volunteers for painting the deck of the BACC.
  2. Diane Whalley was present representing the Cemetery Commission looking for support for tree removal for a fallen tree at Pleasant Hill Cemetery and three large potentially hazardous trees at New Pond Cemetery, Baptist Cemetery and Marshall Cemetery. Board suggested the Cemetery Commission get the trees audited for cost and encouraged the commission to include added budget as a warrant article for town meeting 2016.
  3. Dave Gaudes gave an update on the milfoil situation on Lake Massassecum. Stated a no parking sign will be posted at the boat loading area in an effort to prevent the lake hosts- local teenagers- from being hassled. Additionally a fish line recycling container and a welcome mailbox with info for boaters can be found at the boat loading site.
  4. Transfer Station Manager thanked NFI volunteers for their road clean-up efforts. Thanked Ken Anderson for saving the town money by finding alternate means for the town to recycle paper after current paper recycler, Empire Paper, announced they are going out of business.

Regular Business

  1. CAP lease signed by Selectmen with no changes.
  2. Letter from resident Verne Clow read to record requesting the replacement of rusted “No Parking” signs on Old Warner Rd. Selectmen suggest sign replacement and will check with Road Agent about signs.
  3. Letter from resident Veronica Mackellow received regarding Cheney Hill Rd. Road Crew will be in the area grading soon and Road Agent has said they will take care of it.
  4. Intent to cut for Map 9-40 signed by Selectmen.
  5. DRA PA-28 Inventory sheet signed by Selectmen stating the town will not use inventory sheets
  6. Abatement Notice of Decisions reviewed and signed by Selectmen. Several abatements discussed and will be revisited after the Town Administrator has spoken with the assessor.
  7. Selectmen agreed to endorse local cable network YCN in an effort to prevent TDS from dropping the network. Town Administrator will write letter to TDS that board would like to see it kept.
  8. Town Administrator pointed out that there are grants available for low income NH residents over 62 requiring septic plans/systems. Grants worth approx. $7500.
  9. Minutes of last THRC meeting reviewed and a list of items to be done detailed. Chair requested that at next meeting it be asked if plans can be put together quickly for ADA entrance approval. Fundraising and invoicing procedures discussed.

Accounts Payable and Payroll Manifest reviewed and signed.

Minutes of June 1, 2015 meeting were reviewed and accepted with no edits.
