Fire Chief (Part-Time)

Town of Bradford, NH

The Town of Bradford, NH (pop 1,650), is seeking an experienced fire officer for the position of part-time fire chief. Bradford is a rural community in Merrimack County. The Chief is expected to work approximately 24 hours per week, to maintain regular office hours, conduct inspections, respond to emergencies when on-duty, and to be available for emergency call-backs. The Bradford Fire/Rescue Department is comprised of an on-call staff of approximately 15 personnel, and is responsible for providing fire, rescue, and EMS first response. The department responds from 1 fire station to approximately 140 calls annually.

Bradford is governed by a three-member Board of Selectmen, with the Fire Chief reporting to the Board of Selectmen. The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred) with a concentration in Fire Science, Public Administration, or related field, and 10 years of experience in the fire service, with at least 5 years of supervisory experience; or any combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of required knowledge, skills, and abilities, and be an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) with the ability to obtain certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) from the National Registry of EMTs and an EMS Provider License from the State of NH within a year of appointment.
