Minutes from June 1, 2009
Board Meeting for the Trustees to Brown Memorial Library
Attendance included: Joan Perry, Bea Howe, Brooks McCandlish, Patty Furness, Meg Fearnley, Bob Manchester Rod Jones & Erica Gross
1. The minutes from the last meeting were read and accepted.
2. Treasurer’s report was read and accepted. A motion was made to accept all gifts and donations made to Brown Memorial Library for the month of May, in the amount of $858.00. The oil receipt was received and totaled $3,000. As stated in prior minutes the Library will be returning $2,000 of the $5,000 budget back to the town.
3. Librarian’s report was read and accepted. The downloadable books took off in the month of May with a total of 50 downloads.
4. The 4th of July float was unanimously decided. This year we will concentrate on Classic Children’s Book Characters.
5. The July 4th book sale will run from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm this year. The parade time this year conflicts with the sale, so if we are unable to find someone to staff it during parade time it will be closed down for that hour. The Church has decided to once again put up barriers blocking the side street. The library does have permission to move the barriers for anyone needing handicap access.
6. The library would like to thank Brian Carter for his donation of plants but also for running the Plant sale.
7. Brooks said he would remove the old picnic table in the next few days from the front lawn.
8. The August fundraiser dinner has been scheduled for 8/29 with setup on the 28th. Woody and Beth will not be able to join us this year. We are thinking of skipping the music this year. The menu will stay the same, except we will go back to pork ribs.
9. The Times Book Review keeps sending a bill out for a subscription that we did not renew. Bea has written to them and it has been decided to ignore any further statements.
10. Tom Dunn has offered a large piece of granite to Bob Manchester. This could be set into the ground and the memorial plaque could be affixed to it. We are grateful to receive such a donation.
11. The Conservation Commission and the Library are hosting a program on Sept. 25th @ 7:00 pm at either the school or the church. The program will be on Coyotes & the integration of Wolves. Hopes are that the Fish & Game Club will also take part in hosting.
12. Patty has a friend who has offered to build and fixate shelves downstairs at the library. Total cost s/b $200.00.
13. Mike Merritt will be called re a spotlight outside by the parking lot. The church has agreed to this.
14. Next meeting on July 6th at 7:00pm.
Meeting was adjourned @ 7:50 pm
Respectfully submitted,
Erica Gross, Secretary
