Cemetery Committee Minutes 08.16.23

 Meeting Attendees: Marlene Freyler Sheila Denoncourt Dawn Gezelman  
Marlene Freyler-The cemetery rules and regulations, that will be posted and provided to current and new cemetery plot owners, need to be created and finalized by the next meeting. Dawn will send a first draft to Marlene and Sheila within the next two weeks.
-Two additional cemetery lots have been sold, since the last meeting. The maintenance fund will receive an additional $1,000.
-There have been five or six deaths since the last meeting.
-Marlene needs to place markers where headstones need to be replaced.
-She will purchase four-corner market for new graves (for the cornerstones).
-Cornerstone has been paid $11,000 (this year) to fix headstones.
-The white fence will be removed from the Church Cemetery, and replaced with a gate and smaller fence (TBD).
-The following work needs to be done at the Sunny Plains Cemetery:  pipes need to be cut below the ground; an electrician needs to look at the (water) pump; fencing needs to be cleaned; the gate repaired; and, the hatch doors need to be replaced.
-The Marshall Hill fencing needs to be removed.
-The broken fencing, at the Baptist Church Cemetery, needs to be removed.
-Green burials (no coffins, etc.) were discussed. It was unanimously agreed that this type of burial will not be an option within any Bradford cemeteries.
-Marlene is working to obtain at least three quotes for tree trimming. Charlie Spaulding (suggested by Sheila), Marlene has two names and Dawn will provide Marlene with an additional contact. 

Sheila DenoncourtShe will follow-up with Sheila regarding payment to the landscaper.

Group-Once the cemetery regulations have been finalized, they will be posted (on signs) by various cemeteries, in The Bridge, on the Town website, in the Post Office and Library. It was also suggested that something be published in The Messenger.
-An article will be published in The Bridge and on the Town website, regarding the removal of all items (at grave sites) by October 31, 2023.
-It was agreed that the group will meet at the Sunny Plains Cemetery, at the end of October, to remove flags from grave sites.

ACTION ITEMS:

Dawn Gezelman-She will send a draft of the proposed cemetery regulations to Marlene and Sheila by August 30.
-She will provide Marlene with an additional contact regarding the tree trimming quote.
