Bradford Parks & Rec November 2012
Well we made it through “Hurricane Sandy” and wondered about postponing Halloween but decided we are Bradford….we do Halloween on Halloween!
There was lots of food so that people could take a break from “trick or treating” and eat something nourishing and warm up. This year we had a new addition of Tom Dunn and his Pizza Dragon Oven. If you went home hungry you had no one to blame but yourself.
We had several pumpkins entered in the Pumpkin Contest and the winners were: Marissa Pickman and Jeffrey Stewart!! We also had a jar of Candy Corn for people to guess the amount and win it which was won by Marissa Pickman!
We saw lots of kids (and adults) in costume!!! This is my favorite event of the year because without it I wouldn’t see any trick or treaters. If you don’t get any at your house you should think about coming down next year and joining us!
To everyone who lives on Main Street and hands out candy, thank you! To everyone who stopped by the Spooky Diner at the Community Center, thank you! To those of you who made donations and/or volunteered your time, thank you!
Parks and Rec is wrapping up for 2012 but if you have any ideas of programs or events you would like to see next year, please feel free to contact a committee member by leaving a message at the Community Center – 938-6228.
July 4th Report
July 17, 2012
The Fourth of July Celebration is over. Parks and Rec would like to thank all those who supported us and helped with our events.
Thanks for all the wonderful donations of time and food for the Beef Roast. It was definitely enjoyed by all who attended.
The 5K road race was wonderful again this year! Be checking our face book page for pictures as the runners came in. The road race had 153 runners with Coner Terhune 17 of Wilmot NH taking 1st place with a time of 17:10 and Christin Doneski 41 of Hopkinton NH taking 1st in female division with a time of 18:46. Taryn Hubley took 1st in her division age 10-14 with a time of 28:42. Already looking forward to next year!
The Red Cross Blood Mobile was a success again this year! We had 38 presenting donors, 33 accepted donors (including 5 first time donors, which the Red Cross likes to see). The goal was 28 donors, which we exceeded by 5.
Our Batonettes were once again wonderful in the parade and took 2nd Place! Special thanks to Joni and Debbie and Miss Donna for all the time spent putting this together. Super Special thanks to Pickman and Son’s for the trophies!
We are now holding swimming lessons and the turnout has been great. We apologize for the confusion and change in dates. We had almost 40 students preregistered and 22 additional students registered by the end of day two!!
Again thanks for all the support and anyone who is interested in assisting with Parks and Rec, please leave a message at the BACC 938-6228 or come to a meeting. We meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 4:30 at the BACC.
AS ALWAYS, WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING NEW VOLUNTEERS.
