CEMETERY MINUTES     NOVEMBER  8, 2017

Members present : J. Lucas ,D. Whalley

Regrets : C. Rodd and Jim Lord, Custodian

It was decided to have a meeting to discuss budget issues.

Minutes of October 12 meeting were read and rejected because the report          on the cemetery repairs needs to be revised. This was decision was accepted by J. Lucas and D. Whalley

OLD BUSINESS:

The previous note in the October 12 meeting, regarding cemetery repairs, was revised.

The 2018 budget was worked on and will be delivered to the Town Administrator when a full quorum of the cemetery is present. There was no money spent on fences last year, but the same amount will be requested because the fence around Bagley Cemetery is rotted and needs to be replaced. Loam and seed will remain the same as time did not permit the needed reseeding at Pleasant Hill and Sunny Plains. The issue of the headstone repair is up in the air. The majority of the repairs are done. The winter damage will need to be addressed in the Spring. If a warrant is needed $2500 is the most we will need.  There is still money in the Tree Fund.

It was discussed that purchasing cemetery lots will include the cost of the cornerstones and Perpetual Care .Both are mandated prior to burial. Presently, the cornerstones are not always purchased due to the urgency of a burial. Jane will investigate the cost of cornerstones at 2 local monument businesses in the area.

No update on the cannon ball retrieval for the Civil War monument.
