Conservation Commission Minutes 11.16.21

Bradford Conservation Commission Secretary’s Draft Report
November 16, 2021, 7pm at Brown Memorial Library

Present: George Beaton, Nathanial Bruss, J Ann Eldridge, Meg Fearnley, Patty Furness, Brooks McCandlish, Scott MacLean, Doug Southard.

Secretary’s Draft Minutes: The draft report of 11/19/21 was reviewed. Brooks made a motion to accept the draft minutes as read, Meg seconded, and there was unanimous approval.

Treasurer’s Report: Meg will request payment from our budget to NH Correctional Industries for $101 to cover the cost of the Warner River sign replacement, which was previously stolen from its position on Rte 114.

Bradford Hotel Spring Site Plaque: Meg will look into replacement of this sign, which was stolen from its placement affixed to a boulder at the Hotel spring site. The cost will be paid out of this year’s budget. Meg will inquire at the State Prison sign workshop for recommendations and cost.

Ausbon Sargent Outreach Committee: Scott volunteered to become the Bradford representative, as Meg is retiring from this position. The committee meets quarterly. Many thanks, Scott!

Correspondence: A horse rider from Washington would like to clear some fallen trees along a trail that follows the town lines. George volunteered to get the job done.

Table of Uses: The Planning Board will be reviewing this document from Central Regional so that it accurately depicts what is stated in the Bradford zoning ordinance at a future meeting. BCC will comment after that time.

Abandoned Vehicle: The car on Butman Road in the Pearl Town Forest has been removed.

Federal Grant Application: Ann and the Rural Heritage committee went before the Select Board to gain approval to apply for a grant for the Abenaki Trails Project to create a trail to the Bradford Springs wellhead site. Approval was granted, but will need DES approval also.

Memorandum of Understanding: Ann Payeur spoke with Ann regarding the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the plant collection list at the Bradford Springs Hotel site by the Abanaki Trails Project. The list is vague and subject to misinterpretation, and also contains plants not found at the site. Further work is needed before it can be included in the MOU.

George Gratefulness: There was another round of appreciation to George for mowing the Bradford Springs Hotel site and Battles Trails. We are thankful that George applies his abundant energy to benefit BCC projects!

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:45pm. The next meeting will be Tuesday, December 21, 2021, 7pm at Brown Memorial Library.

Respectfully submitted,
Patty Furness, Secretary
