Request for Proposal – demo of East Main St Building

Request for Proposals

The town of Bradford needs to take down a building destroyed by fire in 2008.

We are requesting proposals to raze, remove, and dispose of a single family home located at 149 East Main Street, Tax Map 17, Lot 49. The building was built in the early 1900’s and is 2.5 stories with an estimated 6700 square ft. The proposal should also include a detailed description of the process to complete with a proposed start date and the length of time required to properly raze, remove, and dispose of the building.

Successful bidders and their subcontractors must have all permits and licenses to properly dispose of any and all hazardous materials found in the tear down and must provide proof of any such license in response to this request. The building contains asbestos, and may contain other hazardous materials such as lead paint. The town will conduct an Environmental Assessment of the property, which bidders may request and review at the Selectmen’s office. Successful bidders also must have and provide proof of valid commercial general liability insurance, including coverage for the handling and disposal of any hazardous materials found on site, on an occurrence basis with limits of liability in an amount not less than One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) combined single limit for each occurrence, and Three Million Dollars ($3,000,000) in the annual aggregate. The successful bidder shall have and shall provide proof of valid worker’s compensation coverage as required by law. The successful bidder shall furnish the town with certificates of insurance evidencing the insurance coverage set forth above, including naming the town as additional insured. The successful bidders will be required to indemnify and hold harmless the town from any claims of damages that may occur on the subject site and that may result from the scope of work as described.

Interested parties can contact the Selectmen’s office for details at 938-5900. Proposals are due in the Selectmen’s office by December 6th, 2011 at 5:00 pm.

The Board reserves the right to reject any and all proposals
