Town Hall Restoration Committee Minutes 11.16.11

TOWN HALL RESTORATION COMMITTEE
NOVEMBER 16, 2011

The Town Hall Restoration Committee met at 6:30pm and consumed a delicious meal presented by Caryl Walker for which all the members said a big thank you Caryl. It was suggested to Caryl to add the recipes to be printed in the Bridge.

Eileen Kelly, Chair opened the meeting at 7:00 with Audrey Sylvester, Caryl Walker, Dick Keller, Sandy Wright, John Greenwood, Michelle Halsey, Marcia Keller, Andrew Pinard, George Cilley, Alex Spiloiotis and Marge Cilley Secretary present. Beth Rodd and Phyllis Wilcox were absent.

Nominations:

Dick Keller nominated Eileen Kelly as Chair, seconded by Michelle Halsey and unanimously carried.

Dick Keller nominated Michelle Halsey as Vice Chair, but Michelle advised it would not be convenient at this time.

Marcia Keller nominated John Greenwood, Vice Chair. Seconded by Dick Keller, carried unanimously.

Eileen Kelly, Chair handed out some copies of the Letter of Intent for the Artplace Grant and read it to the Committee. There was no dollar amount however it was felt to be in the $600,000 to $650,000 range. This Grant is to bring the second floor of the Town Hall back to being usable again as a cultural center resulting in benefiting the whole building. The Committee should hear in January if they should continue the Application for the Grant.

John Greenwood & Developer:

John Greenwood advised he has met with a developer and hopefully he will be out this week to look at the Town Hall. John advised the developer does have an in house draftsman who may accompany him. Many different transformations were discussed including raising the town hall and utilizing the basement in several different ways, as well as reconfiguring the first floor. Discussion ensued regarding the current wiring in the building.

Trip to Walpole:

Eileen Kelly handed out copies of the Grant from the town of Walpole when they renovated their town hall. Those that can, The Town Hall Restoration Committee will car pool to Walpole to inspect what they have done there and meet with Tara Sad. They will meet at 9:30am at the Community Center to car pool.

Additional Grants:

Audrey Sylvester has additional Grant information which she discussed. Audrey advised she has attended a meeting with the EPA and National Trust Preservation in Concord regarding rehabilitating older buildings. A Brownfield’s Grant was suggested as a possibility and this information will be forwarded to Cheryl Behr, Administrator.
