Appurtenance Ordinance

Appurtenance Ordinance

The Town of Bradford will not be responsible for any damage or destruction to property placed within the town’s right-of-way during maintenance operations in any season.

Appurtenances include, but are not limited to: mailboxes, fences, hedges, trees, shrubs, landscape timbers, grass, or turf. Items such as these located within road limits or right-of-way, exist by sufferance only, with responsibility assumed by the owner. In addition, leaves and debris are not to be discarded by or near ditches and culverts so as to interfere with the natural flow of precipitation.

It is not possible for the Town of Bradford to replace or repair any type of structure erected by abutting landowners within the right-of-way that has been damaged as a result of highway maintenance.
