Public Access to Waterways Ordinance

In consideration of the threat to the quality of the lakes, ponds, rivers and streams of the Town of Bradford, N.H., posed by the infestation of exotic weeds (i.e. milfoil), the Town of Bradford does hereby declare and decree that effective on this first day of December, 1996, all watercrafts (boats, canoes, kayaks, sailboats, sailboards, and jet skis), motors, boat carriers (i.e. trailers), and any vehicle entering the waters for launching purposes as well as any structures (i.e. docks and rafts ) are to be carefully inspected for the presence of any aquatic plant or plant fragment before introduction ( i.e. launching ) into any and all waterways of the Town of Bradford,N.H. Special attention in the inspection will be given to bait/fish holding enclosures.

Any and all vegetation found must be removed and discarded in adequate watertight trash containers.

Identification stickers will be required indicating proper authorization and use of all public launch sites. A sticker fee of Ten Dollars ($10.00) will be required for use of all public launch sites for all non-resident/ non-tax payer individuals, businesses or corporations.

Violation of this ordinance may be subject to a fine not to exceed $1000.00 per RSA 31:39 III.
