BUDGET COMMITTEE PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES

February 16, 2017

Meeting called to order at 6:30pm by Beth Downs.

Present: Beth Downs, Chair; Dick Keller; Chris Mock; Kathy Rodgers; Dave Nunnally; John Pfeifle, Selectman; Karen Hambleton, Town Administrator, Sonny Harris, Selectman; Jim Bibbo, Selectman

Absent: Michael James

Minutes for February 2nd and 13th were approved with no correction. Vote 6-0

Beth read Articles One through Four, John then read Article Five and went over each recommendation from the Selectmen and the Budget Committee. Beth then read Article Six through Article Twenty-Five.

The floor was opened for public comment. Marcia Keller asked if they had followed the CIP in preparation of the budget. Marcia was informed that the CIP had not been updated this year. In last year’s CIPD, the Loader was planned for 2020, the Fire Truck was projected for 2019, and the compressor was projected for this year according.

Harry Wright asked a question about Article Fourteen regarding the additional funds needed for Bement Bridge. John explained that the State would cover 80% and the Town would be responsible for 20%, (approximately $100,000). The Selectmen recommend raising $50,000 this year whereas the Budget Committee recommends raising $20,000 this year.

Beth made a motion for the committee to approve the final budget, John seconded, vote 6-0. It was noted that there was no need for the Second Public Hearing scheduled for February 21st.

Public Hearing was adjourned at 7:05pm
