Meeting Minutes

July 19, 2016, 7pm at Brown Memorial Library

Present: George Beaton, Seth Benowitz, J Ann Eldridge, Meg Fearnley, Patty Furness, Scott MacLean, and Brooks McCandlish

Secretary’s Report: The draft minutes of 6/21/16 were accepted as written.

Treasurer’s Report: Meg stated that there was a $127 donation from sales at the July 2nd fair booth, which will go into the Land Protection Fund. A huge thank you to all of our talented and generous commission members and friends!

Pollinator Workshop: A workshop on how to support pollinators in the landscape will be presented on Thursday September 22 at 6:30pm at the Red Barn Community Association in Wilmot.

Lumber Barn Application: A notification was received regarding intent to extend the existing building in a shoreland protection zone. Seth and Ann will investigate.

Potential Conservation Property: Andy Deegan notified us as to estimated easement costs which would include surveying, stewardship fees, and purchase and sale of the easement. The approximate total would be $32,000; the Rural Heritage Committee has offered support in fund raising, and the Hillsborough Conservation Commission will be involved also.

Town of Bradford Master Plan 2016: Ann has sent word to Claire James regarding an offer of assistance in this revision of the Master Plan.

Wetland Ordinances: Discussion of uses permitted in wetland buffer areas indicated a review of wetland ordinances would be in order. NH Association of Conservation Commissions may have guidelines to use. Any changes would be addressed to the Zoning Board for presentation on the ballot of the next town meeting.

Warner River Protective Designation Program: Scott brought us all up to speed on the progress of this process. There will be informational sessions in each of the 5 towns involved in this management and protection program of the Warner River. Dates will be announced. Scott will give a brief presentation to the Selectmen, Zoning Board, Planning Board, Rural Heritage Committee, and Bradford Fish and Game Club prior to the public session at the Community Center.

The meeting adjourned at 8:20pm. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, 7pm at Brown Memorial Library.
