Library Trustee Minutes 06.01.15

DRAFT Minutes from June 1, 2015

The Board Meeting for the Trustees of Brown Memorial Library was called to order at 6:12 p.m.

Attendance:      Patty Furness, Connie Scheffy, Mary Chris Duncan, Nola Jordan, Sandy Wadlington, Meg Fearnley

1. The secretary’s report for the May meeting was presented. A motion was made and passed to accept the report.

2. A motion was made and passed to accept donations to Brown Memorial Library in the amount of $1019.30. Donations consisted of: $856.30 from the Memorial Day book and plant sale, $120.00 from the on-going book sale, and $43.00 in general donations. Nola reported that it was necessary to accept one more order of fuel oil. It is optimistically predicted that this will be the last delivery until fall. The treasurer’s report was accepted as presented.

3. Meg reported that the Monday story hour continues to be popular with mothers of young children.  Numbers for circulation and attendance at events remain approximately the same as this time last year.

4. Under new business, Meg noticed a significant slowdown in internet speed. The IT team found a way to resolve the issue and things are happily back to normal.

5. In other business, an electrician has been found to install the low voltage lighting along the walkway with no charge. Patty will continue to investigate the best place to purchase the lighting.

6. Many thanks to Marcus Bateman for resetting the bricks along the pathway and for providing the stones at the foot of the steps with no charge. This improved both the appearance and access to the library. Patty will write a note of thanks on behalf of the trustees.

7. Further discussion of replacing current florescent lighting with LED lighting was postponed until the July meeting, when more information will be available.

8. Planning continued for the Fourth of July float, the theme of which is Peter Pan. This coordinates with the summer reading program. Trustees will be working on the float during the month of June with final details confirmed at the July meeting.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Connie Scheffy, Secretary
