Main Street Revitalization Committee

June 4, 2013

7:01 – 9:00

Marcia Keller, Marlene Freyler, Marilyn Gordon, Gwen Dupuis, Sue Reynolds, Nikki Dubaere & Felicia Starr attended.

Marilyn read a response from an email Cheryl received from the town attorney about the Sanborn Property. We can’t do anything with the property until the actual owners are identified, notified and given a 30 day response after the certified letter is received by the owner. Any improvements and money received from the sale of the personal belongings and property will go towards the cost of tearing down the building and paying back taxes. After all costs have been covered, the money will go back to the homeowner; Bradford does not earn any money. Marilyn will follow up with the selectmen’s office for updates and let us know.

The trees between the BACC and the property to the left have had limbs fallen during storms. Nikki will contact the selectmen and figure out what can be done between the home owner and the town. We can find tree people to help with that project.

Felicia will go to the next selectmen’s meeting to ask for permission to plant flowers/take care of the flowered areas. Areas to be asked about are: Lafayette- Main St. & Rt. 114, Bicentennial – Rt. 103 & Main St. & Main St., High St, and Water St. She will also find out about solar lights for the flags. Gwen will talk to the local Boy Scout troop to see if they are able/willing to care for a flag, Sue will talk with 4H & Felicia will talk with the local Girl Scout troop.

All minutes will be put on the website & Felicia will email everyone with the minutes.

Marilyn will work on the Mission Statement.

Cheryl is looking for some volunteers to be on a committee for Safe Routes to School.

Wednesday, June 19 – Cindy from Department of Economic Resources will be at the BACC to discuss the steps we can take to improve the town.

Felicia will also discuss with the selectmen about a community garden. Travis, from Newbury, is a good contact.

The property (behind the BACC) has many uses and people have some ideas of what it can be used for. We need to be sure The EPA report states it is a healthy area for people to be in. A walking path, recreational area, housing, Bradford Green (plans from 1998/1999) are all ideas to look into.

Discussion continued about the ideas and plans – go simple & talk to the selectmen.
