Police Chief Announcement

The Town of Bradford’s Select Board is pleased to announce the promotion of Lieutenant Edward Shaughnessy to the newly created position of full-time Police Chief effective January 1, 2022. Lieutenant Shaughnessy has been a member of the Bradford Police Department for over 16 years. He began his law enforcement career in Bradford as a Patrolman and moved through the ranks serving as Master Patrolman, Detective, Detective Sergeant and, since 2019, as Lieutenant. He is deeply committed to his community and currently serves as President of BNSYS (Bradford, Newbury, Sutton Youth Sports) and as Commander of the Central New Hampshire Special Operations Unit. He has been a DARE Instructor for KRES Bradford since 2008 and was named DARE Officer of the Year in 2015.

The Select Board also extends its deepest appreciation to Chief Jim Valiquet for his 17 years of service as Bradford’s part-time Police Chief and wishes him well in his future endeavors. A retirement celebration will be held on January 10, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Appleseed Restaurant. The public is invited to attend.
