Board of Selectmen Meeting

March 14, 2016

Minutes

Pledge of Allegiance

Meeting called to order at 5:30pm

Roll Call- John Pfeifle, Chairman; Sonny Harris, Selectman; Jim Bibbo, Selectman

Karen Hambleton, Town Administrator; Marilyn Gordon, Treasurer were in attendance

John Pfeifle was nominated and seconded as Chair of the Board of Selectmen

 Appearances

  1. Town Hall Restoration Committee: The committee is still committed to restoring the Town Hall and asked if the Board was still in support as well. The Board agreed and stated that they will continue to work with the Restoration Committee. The Board also stressed that they would like to set a goal of May 2, 2016 to have the town offices moved back into the town hall, they will be looking for volunteers to help as much as possible to keep the costs at a minimum.
  2. Claire James stood in front of the board and stated her opinion as to the possible causes for the Town Hall Restoration bond failing.
  3. Parks and Recreation would like to convert the concrete pad at Brown Shattuck Field into a place for basketball, street hockey and other outdoor activities. Currently the plows are stored on this pad during the summer months. This project will be funded by Parks and Recreation and private funding.

Regular Business

  1. Keasarge Area Preschool was expected to be present to discuss their lease, but they did not attend the meeting.
  2. Board signed the Pay Requisition #4-Breezy Hill Bridge.
  3. Board signed the abatement request.
  4. Board denied property tax exemption.
  5. Board postponed signing the Northpoint Engineering Contract (Naughton property) until next meeting.
  6. Town meeting discussion: there was some concern about the YES/NO ballots and the colors used during the Town Meeting being confusing. The Town Clerk’s office is planning changes for the next Town Meeting.
  7. A letter from the State Fire Marshal’s Office sent a letter regarding the use of Bouncy Houses. Since they meet the definition of an amusement ride and are therefore regulated if they are open to the public. Registered devices will have a NH decal with the current year and number.

 

Accounts Payable and Payroll Manifest reviewed and signed.

Minutes of March 7, 2016 meeting were reviewed and accepted with no change. Voted 3-0.

The next Selectmen’s meeting will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016.
